[Amc-list] OT: new set of wheels

Wife found a used 2008 Altima sedan yesterday, we went and wrangled the deal on it today.
$18,700. For an 2.5s sedan with 660 miles on it! It stickered for over $22,000 42 days ago when the long time Subaru owners bought it, they kept it till last week and decided that while it was nice enough they really liked their Subarus better so they traded it back in! Yay, their loss, our gain! Sweet deal on a nice car.
Not exactly my cup of tea, uh, for a NEW car I'd be checking out a Challenger! oh, well, this time I kept myself out of trouble. I left her do the searching and make up her mind, that way she can't say I swayed her choice at all. I got a lot of flak over the WJ last year.

For a little on topic, welded up another patch in the conv today. then sealed up some of the soon to be unreachable seams with 3m seam sealer, wow the fumes from that stuff are brutal! My nose is on fire, had to quit till they settle down! I know I need to shoot some pics and get them up. It's getting to the point I will soon have that nasty cowl corner rot, GONE! I wish there were more Rambler guys and cars in this area! I'd start a cowl repair service! I actually like fixing these things! Once you get in there and figure out the approach it is actually not hard to do. I know a lot of guys say to just fiberglass those corners up, but after welding up mine and seeing the flods cars glassed corners I have to say I would advise against doing it that way! There is just senough flex in those corners that the glass seems to crack and seperate from the metal allowing moisture in, then the resulting rust pops th eglass loose and the whole mess tends to snowball from there.
 Welded
patches sealed and properly maintained to me seem to be the only real way to go. I have to figure out what I am going to use to do the "rustproofing" inside the drain boxes, I huess that's what i'll call them? I plan to use a unibit and open up a pattern of holes to allow me to spray inside those boxes and treat the previously bare metal around the vent openings.

After it is all seam sealed and painted an annual inspection and hosing out should allow the corners to last darn near forever.
