DUH!! Forgot to add this: The REAL upgrade would be to design an overhead cam head for the 4.0L. Really wouldn't be that hard -- Pontiac did it for the Chevy 250 in the late sixties and had quite a hot six. The problem then would be engine height, and I think that's the main reason for the switch to the V-6, not length. Of course Jeep could have borrowed from "ma Chrysler" and leaned it over... Interesting that GM went with a new I-6/I-5 OHC design. Of course the main reason was to reduce complexity of the variable cam timing system -- only had to work on one cam instead of two (only the intake varies). -- Frank Swygert Publisher, "American Motors Cars" Magazine (AMC) For all AMC enthusiasts http://farna.home.att.net/AMC.html (free download available!) _______________________________________________ Amc-list mailing list Amc-list@xxxxxxxxxxxx http://splatter.wps.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/amc-list
