Double check against the OEM part number because the website didn't list one for a '96. Being the split year for OBDI and OBDII, '96 Mopars and Jeeps had MAJOR issues with computers and wiring if you got one in the "lemon" zone. I have seen the dealerships go so far as to replace the '96 wiring harness with one from a '97 to clean up the probs.
