Just for the record (and further confusion!!), my '79-'88 AMC parts books list the following for Spirit/Eagle gas tanks (less sender): '80-up Concord and Eagle (non SX/4 models) = 8131654 '79-up Spirit and Eagle SX/4 = 8127669 >From the parts book illustrations, the 2 tanks are quite different regarding sender and vapor return line locations, and shape of the tank. Note however that the 8127669 also appears once in the '73-'78 parts book as fitting ONLY the '77 Gremlin. The only thing I had to do was relocate the fuel filler to the center rear. Otherwise, it's the exact same shape and size, and if you're swapping to fuel injection, you can still use the stock XJ fuel pump. dan Date: Mon, 29 Sep 2008 09:05:38 -0700 From: Jim Blair <carnuck@xxxxxxxxxxx> Subject: [Amc-list] Definitive fuel tank fitment To: <amc-list@xxxxxxxxxxxx> Message-ID: <BLU146-W194F3FF0B1B40C19E7E028AC400@xxxxxxx> Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" What gas tanks (besides the SX4 and Gremlin) will fit my '82 Spirit hatchback? Will the Eagle wagon tank fit? The rust in this tank has annoyed me for the last time and I need a clean tank for doing the EFI swap. (can't ship gas tanks UPS anymore. DHS paid me a visit after I steam cleaned, soaked in TSP and shrink wrapped one to send.) _______________________________________________ Amc-list mailing list Amc-list@xxxxxxxxxxxx http://splatter.wps.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/amc-list
