I ran into the same issue when I was ready to install a new mini-starter in my '69 Javelin with Hedman headers. Here's how I worked out the removal of the old (stock) starter: http://www249.pair.com/danritz/jav/starter1.jpg http://www249.pair.com/danritz/jav/starter2.jpg The mini-starter went in easily with headers in place. I assume in your case you'll need to get a stock starter back in, so that will be a problem also?
