[Amc-list] AA engine to trans. adapters

Cadillac is running a 6 speed automatic RWD
in production currently - not sure the fate of these slated
in other GM vehicles as the Hybrids are said to
run 2 speed units in the near future.

Not knocking the AA adapter, but the one the other guys make (name escapes
me at the moment) is less messy and uses a Chev starter with a crank adapter
to space the starter out (like AMC did with the 287 and 327) Last I checked
it was available through http://partsmike.com and someone (maybe on the list?)
borrowed the 327 to Buick Nailhead TH400 (NOT the BOP pattern!) adapter ring
to make a 700r (and the other GM trans) adapter plate.
Looks like the whole assembly will be for sale soon (327 flexplate, crank
spacer, starter, adapter ring and even the core Nailhead trans from a 4x4)

" Hi, I'm new to the AMC world but am trying to come up to speed. Am
" told you offer an adapter plate to put a GM AOD trans behind an AMC
" V8. Have a '74 Hornet V8 coupe that would sure be improved by such
" a modification I think. Didn't find any reference in your web page,
" though, so would appreciate an e-mail when you have time.
that would be advance adapters. originally intended to allow gm-case
th400s to replace relatively scarce amc-case ones but of course works
for any gm pattern tranny, even stick bellhousings.
btw 'aod' is a ford model name, and the th200 didn't have an o/d. the
th200-4r, th700/4L60, and th400-derived 4L80 do.
