AFAIK, they never put the 199 out for production use in 1964 so that 64 head you had cleaned should be for the 232. Before I did anything with the navarro block I'd get it checked over for cracks or other issues. With the entire block being sleeved it could be damaged, I hope not, but you never know. usually the engine guys balk at more than two sleeves in any given block. One reason is for the cost and aggravation in getting the block bored, the sleeev installed, trimmed and rebored. The second reason is all that working and pressure from fitting all those sleeves can distort things clear down to the mains arear of the block along with increased possibility of cracks. Now, I doubt barney would have kept it if it was not useable in some degree as most racing places ditch EVERYTHING that is not useable as after a while you are wading in parts if you don't, but you never know. -- Mark Price Morgantown, WV 1969 AMC Rambler, 4.0L, EFI, T-5 2004 Grand Cherokee Laredo, 4.7L, Quadratrc II " Chronic Pain Hurts" -------------- Original message ---------------------- From: Tom Jennings <tomj@xxxxxxx> > Since I just hot-tanked and cleaned up an original '64 232 (or 199, who > knows) head, I pulled out the two Navarro heads and lined all three of > 'em up on the bench. _______________________________________________ Amc-list mailing list Amc-list@xxxxxxxxxxxx http://splatter.wps.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/amc-list
