According to the pics on http://NAPAonline.com it is the same style starter. The usual reason for them to die is the flywheel/flexplate teeth are worn out and the starter over extends, which burns out the over running contacts quicker. That and the drive gears are now made in China so they wear out faster. When I have to do a starter swap on one of these style, If just the drive is shot, I get a Wilson replacement when I go up to Canada. (probably available here too, but I have a buddy up there that remans starters and alternators) Jim Blair, Lynnwood, WA '87 Comanche, '83 Jeep J10, '84 Jeep J10 From: Joe Smith Subject: [Amc-list] off topic: ford starter To: AMC List Message-ID: Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" My kid has a 1990 ford f150 that goes thru starters, about 1 a year, but this last one only 6 months.?
