I was a bit surprised to notice that in the '69 TSM, I would have
thought that not adjusting the cam
to the engine displacement would move the torque peak around more than
you might want.

On the other hand, it's certainly cheaper to make one cam fit all!

They did use a different cam in the '70 390 though, from the TSM:

Intake Cam Lobe Lift 0.287"

Intake Valve Timing
Opens	18 degrees BTDC
Closes	68 degrees ABDC
Duration 266 Degrees

Exhaust Cam Lobe Lift	0.287"

Exhaust Valve Timing
Opens	66 degrees BBDC
Closes 20 degrees ATDC
Duration 266 degrees

Valve Opening Overlap 38 degrees

A little more lift, and less overlap, same duration.

I only have those two TSM's, so I can't speak for other years.
There's a line in
"Performance American Style", which AMC produced, describing their cams:
"none have outstanding performance characteristics". I think that
pretty much
says it all!

Cheers,
Dave
