No closed or flat area at all. They look alot like the 70 Ford Clevelane open chamber heads. Those engines are notorious for ping, zip quench, nada... I wonder how available E85 is out there? May have been a good test bed for a Howell with a 4.0L head! Woudl have put that puppy up into the 10+ to one range easy! I was thinking of building a high compression stroker for the American, but that 27.9 mpg on the last tank kind of makes me want to leave it alone! How many people have a 60's semic custom Rambler with efi etc and get that kind of mileage out of it? Not many I'll bet! -- Mark Price Morgantown, WV 1969 AMC Rambler, 4.0L, EFI, T-5 2004 Grand Cherokee Laredo, 4.7L, Quadratrc II " Chronic Pain Hurts" -------------- Original message ---------------------- From: Greg Taylor <amundaza@xxxxxxxxx> > Tom, > have you considered adding the combustion chamber grooves, or is is a completely > open chamber head? grooves would help address ping. > > Sincerely, > Greg Taylor :) <>< > > And the testimony is this, that God has given us eternal life, and this life is > in His Son.
