Just remember that the only other engine that easily fits the early American engine bay is a Ford 200/250 inline six. Even those need mounts made, but a universal hot rod bar will fit the American. Mounts still need some fab work though. Trans mount will also need to be fabricated, but relatively easy to do. I've seen some V-8 installations using the stock front end. It's tight in there though! Electronic ignition and platinum plugs are a must -- almost have to remove the engine to change plugs is an ABC is used. Ford SB is a better fit though only about 2" narrower -- every little bit helps! Coolest install I've seen is an SBC with early Chevy II "over the rail" headers. Large holes cut in inner fender panels between firewall and spring towers for the headers to pass through, didn't hurt structural integrity at all. That car was used as a wheel stander and would easily pull the front wheels off the ground, stock suspension too! Could be duplicated with a 360 and Jeep CJ "ove r the rail" headers... ----------- Date: Thu, 17 Jul 2008 12:49:51 +0000 From: Wrambler242@xxxxxxxxxxx Yeah, ignore my first post. That ain't running without a full rebuild. Anything less and you're just kidding yourself. There's going to be too much stuff floating around. You wanted a project worthy of a re-engine did you not?
