This would be real interesting with aluminum heads as the heat loss there is quite a bit more substantial/crucial than with cast iron. We had a discussion around this a while back as keeping the heat in the combustion chamber is good and bad depending on the application. Not bad numbers when you look at the gains across the power band though. Not to mention that the torque in the uncoated engine peaked at 3500 while the coated parts continued to gain torque all the way to 4000rpm and didn't fall back to the uncoated peak until 4500.

Thanks, that puts it in perspective. Yeah, not worth the $$$ for small
motors like mine. I was just thinking of this old motor's head/heat
problems, but there are more cost effective ways to get the low hanging
fruit.
