I had posted a long time ago about torqueing the head. Everyone had great suggestions. I promptly tucked them away. Well, I was driving the car and my son noticed a few puffs of white smoke coming out the tailpipe. He called me on my cell phone (I know, hang up the phone and drive - but we were stopped at a red light). I did an "I could've had a V8" head slap, and promptly recollected the discussion. Besides, it was a good excuse to buy tools. So - we warmed up the car, and torqued the head following the pattern in the TSM. Backed off the bolts, then tightened them to 60 foot pounds (ish) using my bar torque wrench. Couldn't figure out the fancy new "click" torque wrench, so my son actually read directions. We did the same exact procedure using the new wrench, and it "felt" close between the bar wrench and click wrench. I know it's not as accurate as getting the wrench tested - but I think we were pretty close. Hoping the intermittent puffs of white smoke go away. Matt - at the very start of this project I posted a link to pics, including one of the engine compartment. You mentioned the battery cable looked kind of iffy. Guess what cable I broke? _______________________________________________ Amc-list mailing list Amc-list@xxxxxxxxxxxx http://splatter.wps.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/amc-list
