Thinking dissturbing thoughts.
Can you sneak the engine forward an inch or so and the rear back?
The wheelwells on the back of a lot of the early 60's cars actually look like the wheels are too far forward anyway.
I don't know if that would upset the steering angle though.
Still if you could keep it to 2" in the rear.
What about having the output shortened on the T trans?
How far up is it splined?
most any shop that does rear axles can even respline it to make it shorter.
For shifting the engine forward you could maybe use a 65 American waterpump and electric fan.
If you needed to go back [preferable] you could use a 65-66 Ambassador crossmember! bummer.
