I can offer advice on the first two, but you're on your own with the others... The 89 Cherokee does sound like a blown gasket. Usually when two adjoining cylinders lose compression that's a good indicator of a blown gasket. That, or the head cracked. Whichever the case, it's not a huge deal to pop the head off one of these. I had the head off my Jeep last year to replace the lifters in it and start-to-finish the job only took about 1/2 a day. The 96 Cherokee sounds like an IAC problem. Have you cleaned the throttle body lately? These engines are bad to dirty up the throttle body and that can certainly cause the stall at stop issue you describe. Buy a can (or two) of throttle body cleaner and get an old toothbrush, take the intake tube off the top of the throttle body. Spray the TB down with the cleaner, hold the throttle plate open and scrub well down the throat of the TB. Also spray into all the little holes you see in the TB throat. You'll likely see brown goo come out of all of these. If the IAC is gooped up, it won't work right. Be sure to wear safety glasses, that TB cleaner can easily ricochet into your eye (don't ask how I know). I have a 94 Cherokee, and I usually do the TB cleaning a couple times a year.
