Bruce,
      When you do the fronts, don't hang the front wheel when you unbolt the shocks.
The front can drop suddenly when you get them unbolted, theres a long story attached, but my brother has a non operating finger on his left hand from doing this on a 65 American. He spent several days in a hospital and it was not pretty, The shock controls drop and when it unbolts the whole mess can come down. He was young and did this with a bumper jack and no tire or jack stand in place. 
     You should be OK, just use stands or better yet front shock are often easier when done with the front run up on ramps to keep the suspension loaded, hmmm, loaded, where's that beer?.
