Re: [Amc-list] Mobilgas Economy Runs

My 74 Gremlin gets 30 mpg (25 US) cruising at 65 mph. There's a 1400 mile trip
I've done probably 20 times over the years and that's the number I get.
232 T-14 2.73:1
I use a vacuum gauge also and have since about 1975. Usual reading on the
highway is about 10" vacuum. My Nissan usually has lower vacuum, around 7", but
gets way better mileage due to the smaller engine. It needs more throttle
opening so is running more near peak volumetric efficiency. Peak MPG would be
with an engine small enough or geared slow enough that it would take full
throttle to maintain speed - most near 100% VE.
