Flat-head is WAY different than OHV -- direct acting valves vs. pushrods and rocker arms... The info is there in the TSM Tom, you're just not seeing it! 1963 big car TSM, Engine - 6 cylinder - Cast Iron Cylinder Block, page 5, there's a diagram in the top center of the page. Exhaust valve has 244 degrees duration, exhaust opens 53*30' BBDC, closes 10*30' ATDC. Page 12 - top right corner - Exhaust Cam Lobe Lift 0.263" (total lift if cam lobe lift x rocker ratio -- TSM doesn't say but IIRC it's 1.6:1). I see how you missed it -- the specs section only gives intake specs, not exhaust. I find little things like this in the TSM all the time -- the info is there, bit not where it's expected! ------------ Date: Wed, 21 May 2008 09:57:07 -0700 (PDT) From: Tom Jennings <tomj@xxxxxxx> I'm stumped. No TSM I have has the exhaust valve timing. Intake yes, exhaust no. Odd. It's not exactly popular information so it doesn't appear on the world wide series of intertubes. That's for the OHV, I assume it's different than the flathead, but who knows. -- Frank Swygert Publisher, "American Motors Cars" Magazine (AMC) For all AMC enthusiasts http://farna.home.att.net/AMC.html (free download available!) _______________________________________________ Amc-list mailing list Amc-list@xxxxxxxxxxxx http://splatter.wps.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/amc-list
