There's several websites with stories. There seems to be some variation in what people use and say about what is required. My plan is to use a Borg-Beck, clutch setup spec'd for a 77 CJ. Including the pilot bushing. Bellhousing can come from late 70's or 80's apps, running T150, SR4, T4, T5. It does not matter if it comes from an Eagle as the bellhousing is the same, so Eagles and Cj's up thru 86 are fair game for bells. You can actually get brand new bells if you want! About $188+-. New release forks are available as are the springs and what not. Once you have the trans mounted to the engine the speedo cable works from a T-10 application. Mount is to use a Mustang trans mount, nice and generic 73 or so works IIRC, you need to then mate it to your crossmember by the means that makes you happiest. Yoke is a T5 or C4 Ford yoke. Drive shaft will likely need to be custom length. Unless you have a 69 American and an AMC 15 rear axle, then a 77 Pinto wagon shaft will work! There is more to it then this but not a lot. You have to make sure you get proper engagement in the clutch splines and the trans input does not bottom out against the crank. It's best to check things thouroughly as some have reported issues. One firm report I have heard is to not use a Ford clutch disc, but stay to the AMC disc with the proper 10 spline 1 1/16" diameter shaft! I'm just getting ready to actualy change mine over from it's AMC T5 to a Cobra sec'd Ford T5. Did I mention you are looking for a Mustang V8 T-5? pre 93 as the later models have longer inputs. Best thing to do is do some web searches and read, read and reread. -- Mark Price Morgantown, WV 1969 AMC Rambler, 4.0L, EFI, T-5 2004 Grand Cherokee Laredo, 4.7L, Quadratrc II " Chronic Pain Hurts" -------------- Original message ---------------------- From: "Dan Strohl" <DStrohl@xxxxxxxxxxxx> > I've been conversing with a fellow AMCer who's interested in swapping a > Mustang T-5 into his Gremlin.
