I tried it with my Craftsman shop vac and it began to make a not normal squealing sound almost immediately. And yes the intake for the cabinet is functional. I immediately purchased equipment designed to deal with the dust. It was only a couple hundred bucks, scratch and dent sale, never did find the scratch or the dent, rofl. What variety of shop vac are you using? It must have very good seals on the bearings for the motor. I'm going to have to replace mine shortly as it is now near death.
