Thanks. I read your article and was thinking of picking up a vacuum canister. Hadn't decided on looking for a new one at a parts store, or making a salvage yard run. (I've never made a salvage yard run before!) If I go the cannister route - do I just cap off the nozzles on the booster pump / fuel pump? Then mount the cannister to the cowl using sheetmetal screws and a sealant? I'm struggling between taking my youngest flyfishing on Saturday, or scrubbing bathrooms (darn honeydew list!) or making a salvage yard run. Since it's 40 percent chance of rain (I think) - I might be scrubbing. Back to the Rambler side of things - my middle son (he's 18) made a couple runs in the American to pick up friends. He's learning about having to plan on stopping. No last minute braking in this car! He had three friends over last night for a ping pong tournament - but I had him use the bubblemobile (Corolla) to bring his friends home - I don't have seat belts in the back of the Rambler yet. If you don't want to get another get a vacuum storage canister or ball from a newer vehicle and install it between the wiper motor and manifold. Early 80s four cylinder Jeep Cherokees had a quart size "juice can" that looks period under the hood. Newer vehicles have a small softball size vac storage vessel. It's good for vac motors on heater valves and such, but not much for wipers -- it's only about a pint size. > > My wife thought it amusing when one of the neighborhood teen girls fell in love with my 63 American (no longer have, had it for sale at the time). You can tell the kid that the three speed manual becomes an auto when he has his girl in the middle and his arm over the back of the seat. All he has to do is use the clutch, she gets to learn to shift! The trans can be slipped into first before a dead stop, but only JUST before -- like maybe 5 mph. > _______________________________________________ Amc-list mailing list Amc-list@xxxxxxxxxxxx http://splatter.wps.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/amc-list
