Look under the hood of your 63 American. IIRC there's only about 3-4" between the existing intake and closest point to the left inner fender panel. Cut the hump and you gain another 2-3", depending on where you measure from. An intake for the 2.5L could be fashioned that would fit I'm sure, just not sure how much efficiency would be lost. Some cars use a log type with curved runners and a throttle body on one end of the log. That would work and be relatively easy to fabricate. Either the TBI or MPI version would work with it. Might have to cut the hump out anyway to get a nice radius on the tubes. At least there's a little vertical room to work with! -------------- Date: Sat, 5 Apr 2008 10:16:27 -0700 (PDT) From: Tom Jennings <tomj@xxxxxxx> On Sat, 5 Apr 2008, Frank Swygert wrote: > Yes, but hammering at the left inner fender panel won't do it, you'd need to cut the panel out above the suspension mount reinforcement and put a flat piece in, or maybe even an indented piece where the intake sticks way over. There's only 20.5" between the suspension reinforcements. The "humps" are only slightly further apart, maybe another 1-2" tops, Tom: What about modding the intake? It's a PITA, but it's all in one spot, at the top of the engine, and donor parts are common... less invasive than messing with the chassis too. -- Frank Swygert Publisher, "American Motors Cars" Magazine (AMC) For all AMC enthusiasts http://farna.home.att.net/AMC.html (free download available!) _______________________________________________ Amc-list mailing list Amc-list@xxxxxxxxxxxx http://splatter.wps.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/amc-list
