The wife and I drove our daily driver, the 74 4dr. Matador from Salem, WI to Daytona Beach, FL for the 40th. AMX Reunion. We put 2891 miles on the Matador, all trouble free! The mileage on the Matador is now 91,000+ miles. I guess AMC's are getting rare as we did not see one AMC on the whole trip there and on the way back, except of course, at the meet at Daytona International Raceway. My hats off to Cliff Danley, the First Coast AMC Club and its members for sponsoring a great show. There were (as Cliff has mentioned) some exceptional AMC's in the show. One car I got a kick out of was a 69 SC/Rambler that had air conditioning and other modern items. Herman Lewis and his SS/AMX was a hit. Herman didn't race last year but plans on it this year at the age of 70! There was a 68 Ambassador convertible parked next to us in the show that I would of loved driving home! Of course, I would of liked to take home most of the cars in the show! The First Coast AMC Club had there own meet T-shirts for sale but this wasn't just an AMC meet, it was for all cars, trucks, etc. and the Spring Daytona Beach (as it was called) T-shirt that was for sale featured a yellow AMX and an early Ford on it, quite an honor for AMC lovers.
