They "played" with the system till they finaly managed to do away with the pump. I think the key was getting the exhaust to "draw" in enough outside air to light of the cat or alter NOX levels. I don't know much about that kind of stuff, never had to figure it out, yet... Anyway, they went from pump to no pump over a few years. I think the later models just had feed tubes to the exhaust and cat, not the tube manifold into the exhaust manifold. -- Mark Price Morgantown, WV 1969 AMC Rambler, 4.0L, EFI, T-5 2004 Grand Cherokee Laredo, 4.7L, Quadratrc II " Chronic Pain Hurts" -------------- Original message ---------------------- From: JOE FULTON <piper_pa20@xxxxxxxxxxx> > The exhaust manifold doesn't have any holes for the > air tubes. > > There is an air tube assembly running down to the > catalytic convertor which I need to take a closer look > at and see how it functions (source or fresh air). > > Joe Fulton > > --- russ hathaway <russh97309@xxxxxxxxx> wrote: > > > Air pumps that I have seen in the past were run off > > the PS by a seperate V belt, though my Spirit had it > > included in the serps travels. > > Maybe it came from the factory w/o a pump and the > > dealer discovered he had to install one, or the PO > > might have taken it off. > > Are the holes in the exhaust plugged?
