Re: [Amc-list] flat tappet oil

Honestly I am not 100% but I don't believe detergent in oil is to pick up and suspend dirt It is to "scrub" the dirt from oil oil deposits. I would not and have been told long ago not to use heavy detergent oil in an engine that is already fairly clean.
I believe the oil suspends the dirt and carries it to the filter to be cleaned. I think deterhents started in the 90's?

How are the detergent levels? I've always been told not to use racing oil in a daily driver because there is not enough detergent in the oil to pick up dirt and contaminants.
