Thanks for all the notes and info. A work glove, a socket wrench and a 1/2 inch socket did the trick. Luckily there is all sorts of room between the radiator and the fan on the '65 American! So - happily drained the radiator and removed the hoses. Popped off the fan. Looked at the old water pump. Looked at the "new" (remanufactured) water pump from Autobone. Nope. That's not it. Luckily I ordered a second off E-Pay! Looked at the second - supposedly for a '65 Rambler American with 196OHV. Compared to mine. Nope. That's not it, either. Re-read the box, and it wasn't for a '65 American with 196OHV. It was for a '65 American with a 232OHV. Oh well, it'll go in the parts corner. So - time to call a Rambler guy and get the right parts. Tried saving a few bucks - but I ended up paying money, waiting several days for parts, eating a half-day for personal holidays to install said parts, then gotta return 'em. I'm starting to think calling a specialist and getting the right stuff might be worth a little extra cash. At least I learned something. Learned how to remove a water pump - so when I get one, I'll be in business! _______________________________________________ Amc-list mailing list Amc-list@xxxxxxxxxxxx http://splatter.wps.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/amc-list
