Kindo of OT, but similar. In the mid 80's I had a almost ready for paint 77 Ford short bed pickup. Slinny tires, scabby white spokes with brake dust and some rust. Lined up beside a then new Z28, the guy rev'd it and nodded at the light. I nodded back and the light turned green, he pulled me for about ten feet. By that time I was right beside him, I moved the sift selector on the auto to 2 and proceeded to pass him like he was standing still. I never needed third. What the guy did not know was my ratty old 77 shortbed 2wd truck had in it was an .040 over 390, 4bbl fe motor with a 428cj cam, backedup with a good C6 and a 3:25 9" rear axle. It was not quite tuned right so it was a little slow to launch, but look out once it was rolling. With the 3:25 axle and tall skinny tires it scared me before it ran out of top end. I never saw how fast it would truly go. neither did that guy in the Z28 :] -- Mark Price Morgantown, WV 1969 AMC Rambler, 4.0L, EFI, T-5 2004 Grand Cherokee Laredo, 4.7L, Quadratrc II " Chronic Pain Hurts" -------------- Original message ---------------------- From: russ hathaway <russh97309@xxxxxxxxx> > So I was hangin' out with a friend and her friend who > just go an early 70's Monte Carlo, real nice shape. > Brand new to her and she put in a little christmas > tree smelly thing and started razzin' me about my 64 > 440-H.
