Nasty clunks and jerking motion from the rear diff. Suspect the spider gears or such are losing a tooth/teeth. Going to take the cover off later tonight. Can I get these small gears out without taking the whole assembly out of the axle as the shop manual suggests? Could be tough to get the various locking pins, etc. out while still in the axle. Maybe I'll just swap the whole axle. Withe 5 speed and the 2.73s that are in there now I feel I could get better results with 3.08s. Engine rpms seem too low when in 5th on the highway. They'd move from about a lugging 1600 to 1800 at 60mph. thanks Ken Ames 39Master85w.partscar,67Marlin,68AMX,70Machine,73Matador2drht,73Hornet4dsd, 73-74-75-76GremlinXs,75PacerX,76Hornet2dsd,77Matadorcpe,2-77AMXs,78AMX, 78Gremlin,78GremlinGT,79Concordhb,79PacerDL8,2-79AMXs,2-80AMXs, 2-80SpiritDL,80Eagle4dsdn,2-81SX4s,81SpiritGT,81Concord4dsd,82Eaglesw, 2-85Eaglesw,2-80J20,85J10,88Eaglesw,2-89Sentra4dsd (41) AMCA = http://clubs.hemmings.com/amcalberta/ _______________________________________________ Amc-list mailing list Amc-list@xxxxxxxxxxxx http://splatter.wps.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/amc-list
