It's a pretty common (for the last 2-3 years at least) alternator bracket now. You can get that and more conversion brackets, adjuster arms, and even an electronic gizmo that adds a "no charge" light to a one-wire alternator at http://www.alternatorparts.com/Alternator_brackets_1.htm. Three pages of "stuff" -- the warning light gizmo is on the last page. Go to "home" and find lots of alternator repair parts as well as complete new (not rebuilt) alternators. Search the "alternatorparts" site and you'll also find brand new Motorola 37A alternators. They were used on some industrial applications. Not cheap at $159.99 though! a 140A model is just $10 more... The e-bay source is a great price! The conversion bracket the seller uses is $32 retail, so I suspect it's a cleaned up used & tested or rebuilt alternator -- the link above has brand new GM 10SI alternators at $90. It's still a good buy and I'd do it in a heart beat if I needed one! I went to the Boise show back when I was stationed at Mtn. Home AFB in Idaho (mid 83- mid 87). At least I think it was the same show, may have been some other indoor show. It's still cold up there at this time of year! I do hope you get to drive your Rambler up and show them that there are still nice looking AMC powered AMCs around! Most you see in great shape have the engine bays cut up and an SBC (or something else that "doesn't belong") in there, with the suspension cut out too. The stock suspension is a bit "different", but it's still sound and plenty strong for any small block. The old 196 sixes are HEAVY!! Different isn't bad, though most people think that way. Mustang II suspension isn't the greatest either, just popular. Popular isn't always good -- think about how popular smoking used to be!! ----------------- Date: Sun, 24 Feb 2008 19:26:47 -0800 (PST) From: d stohler <das24rules@xxxxxxxxx> for anyone interested (NEEDING like me) to install a 10si alternator with internal regulator on their generator equiped car, i have found a guy on epay who sells the 10si alt with brackets to mount the alt right on your stock gen mount. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Uni-bracket-Delco-10SI-ONE-WIRE-ALTERNATOR-63-Amp_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33573QQihZ007QQitemZ170191620238QQtcZphoto that is the auction for the one wire. he has regular 3 wire availible also. march 6-9 in boise id we have the 36th anual (i beleive) boise roadster show. big show for around here. going to try to get casper (my 62 classic custom) put together to drive out there to it. about 150 mile one way trip for me. i have been to it about 12-15 years ago. its a REAL big fancy indoor show. a lot of guys will get together and do an old car show outside in the parkin lot. hope to go. -- Frank Swygert Publisher, "American Motors Cars" Magazine (AMC) For all AMC enthusiasts http://farna.home.att.net/AMC.html (free download available!) _______________________________________________ Amc-list mailing list Amc-list@xxxxxxxxxxxx http://splatter.wps.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/amc-list
