Sorry if this came through already; having some e-mail problems today... I usually use hot water with Dawn dish soap (excellent degreaser), followed by a clean rag saturated with enamel reducer ( do NOT use lacquer thinner!). A blow dry and good to go. As far as paint, I use Krylon or, better yet, Duplicolor engine paint, the pricier stuff "with ceramic". Really, really tough stuff.
