The car has a zillion bids, but only a few bidders... Seems there are at least two folks who want this car...and neither seems to understand 'proxy' bidding. The bidder whose ID has the '1' in it inches up the bids trying to catch the other guy who is bidding in 'bunches of bucks'. The other guy is trying to find the amount he's (the other guy) bidding inch and buck at a time..if he really wants to seriously have this car, he ought just take the amount he's willing to drop all at once and put it there...the proxy will increment it for him... Then this car would have about 1/10th the amount of bids it does. Look at bid history. You'll see the story there. Wonder if there is a 'sniper' waiting in the woods to take this one out in the end?? That appears that it may end up being a million dollar car. And it does appear to be 'one of a kind' (as in 'remaining'). There is a 1913 Rambler also in California for the loser of this bidding war. Both Ramblers are honeys!! If anyone wishes to, they can purchase it for me. I promise to take care of it forever!! (But you guys probably won't! Oh, well!) Subject: Re: [Amc-list] stunning $650k+ rambler The car is real. The auction may be a farce. The car was here in Salinas for a few touchup items on a fabulous restoration. It was intended to be shown at Pebble Beach last August. I don't know if it made it or not. I have also heard it run.
