My machinist called yesterday evening to ask when my 195.6 block was made. It is a 1963 (April) block. He said the cam bearing size had changed during the production run of that engine. I'll ask when the old/new breakpoint was (based his sources). I know Frank Swygert had said in an earlier post that the cam bearing changed sometime in 1964 or 1965. The Kanter Auto Parts site indicates that the cam bearing size changed in 1961. If ordering for a 1961 engine, they need the engine number (presumably the production date off the block). I just brought this topic up because I would like to pin the change date down for posterity once and for all. Hopefully, my machinist ordered the correct bearings for my block. Frank? Anyone? Does anyone know why the journal/bearing sizes were changed?
