" I have my choice between a 77 Gremlin or a 75 Matador for disc brakes for my 71 Javelin. Which would be the better choice to pull from?
they both have caveats. the '77 have a more modern caliper [used to
'81 iirc] while the '75 are a more powerful design used on fords up to
6900lb pickups, but both use the same big bearing spindle ['75-8] and
as a result both rotors are getting scarce and pricey.
mopar used the same bearings on medium-big cars and small trucks of
the mid-late '70s, and i've wondered if those rotors would work.
you'd have to fab or modify the caliper brackets though, as the mopar
rotors are ~1" larger, and you probably couldn't run 14" wheels
afterwards.
