I have purchased a 79 Spirit GT 258/auto to save it from the crusher. The PO is an AMC hobbyist in northern CA who is even more callous about parting out an AMC than I have become. I'll be bringing it home this spring. I hope to be able to just clean it up and sell it on Ebay. I sure don't need another project and I don't want to part this one out. My previous Spirit experience was with the 80 Spirit with the Iron Duke which was my son's car. I overhauled the Duke as well as that complicated feedback version of the Varijet carb and it still was not a torque monster. That was my only major complaint about that car. The 70 GT would have almost met Tom's need for a LeMons car, but I will have a little too much money in it with transportation charges to sell it under Tom's $500 price restriction. Sounds like he found a good car though anyway.
