UGH. A lazy knock sensor retarding timing too soon can be checked. Yeah, I'm with you! "Sluggish" is relative. My steep-axled AMCs have always been pretty respectable performance-wise. Compared to a V8, or a high-numerical ratio car, sure, they'd be low, but that's not fair and it doesn't mean broken. One nice effect, designed in, is that the torque curve apparent to the seat of your pants is pretty much flat (as in constant) from idle to highway. From the curb it just pulls smoothly up to speed. If the car is super-sluggish off the line, then picks up at RPM, or vice versa, or flat-spots, then there's probably something wrong. Every single pre-1990's car I've ever looked at, mine or others, any brand, has bad, rotten, cracked and leaking smog and fuel hoses. They simply all have to be changed, gas tank to EGR, every single one. _______________________________________________ Amc-list mailing list Amc-list@xxxxxxxxxxxx http://splatter.wps.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/amc-list
