The AMC-List does BOTH -- mail list AND forum! Just go to www.amcyclopedia.org, click on "forums", and you get a repeat of everything on the list in a forum format. You have to sign up to the list to post, then set your properties to "no mail". You don't get anything "rammed down your throat" -- read what you want. Of course if you get the digest in e-mail, there's a contents header -- just read the messages that interest you. An HTML stripper would be a nice addition, and would accommodate those who don't know how/don't want to change their mail settings. Useless HTML in e-mail is part of the band-width growth. I do understand that there are good reasons for HTML in some messages, such as attaching pics, but I would venture to say that 75% or more e-mails have no benefit from it, other than picturing a smiley face rather than a keyboard portrayal. Just clogs band width! ---------------- Date: Wed, 16 Jan 2008 20:18:35 +0000 From: msproviero@xxxxxxxxxxx I left the vast majority of the lists I used to belong to in favor of Forums. Personally, I think you guys are really holding yourselves back from your full potential as a knowledge and experience resource by restricting yourselves to a text list. The list makes everyone receive everything, the Forum format allows you to *choose* that will be rammed down your throat, lol. -- Frank Swygert Publisher, "American Motors Cars" Magazine (AMC) For all AMC enthusiasts http://farna.home.att.net/AMC.html (free download available!) _______________________________________________ Amc-list mailing list Amc-list@xxxxxxxxxxxx http://www.amc-list.com/mailman/listinfo/amc-list
