Matt is 100% correct! Other than the ends of the shoes they will interchange. If you need the brakes right now, you could have the half circles ground in the end, but will run into a problem with spring hole locations. The self adjuster cable guide fits into a hole that's near the end of the park brake strut slot on the Bendix shoes. That would be between two holes on the Wagner shoes. You can use your originals as a guide to drill those holes, and to find the right size. 

You might want to return them though, and have the store order the right number. The problem is they will tell you "that IS the right number". Get them to file a report that it IS NOT. Stores routinely "consolidate" part numbers to reduce inventory by cross referencing any parts that will fit multiple cars. The least often ordered parts are the hardest hit. Someone noted that the specs on the Wagner and Bendix brakes are identical, so boiled it down to one part number. The specs aren't always enough! A shoe COULD be made to work with either, just put the notch and extra holes in, but they aren't! Most of that vintage are relined, not all brand new.

It sounds like you got the wrong shoes. Wagner type brakes have shoes 
like that. Raybestos doesn't list rear shoes for your car but RockAuto 
shows that there are two different types of rear shoes. 159PG is for 
Wagner type, 114PG is for Bendix type. The numbers I gave are Raybestos 
numbers but anyone should be able to cross reference them. If you have 
to give them a car, a 1968 American uses them.
