I've got a follow-up to!! Just found this note in PAS -- "Amount of milling required to reduce chamber volume 0.16cc - 0.001" (for any chamber size head). The change on the 304 was from 9.0:1 to 8.4:1, a 0.6:1 compression change. Change was 0.5:1 on the 360. So you're looking at roughly a half-point change. As long as it stays around 8:1 you will be fine. The local machine shop can give you a rule-of-thumb about how much shaving it takes to get 0.5 points compression back, I forget! ------------------------- Date: Thu, 3 Jan 2008 13:45:22 -0800 (PST) From: Greg Taylor <amundaza@xxxxxxxxx> *** ADDED FOLLOW UP *** How much would compression be raised if the 52.2 CC 70-71 304 heads were installed? Just curious. Stock 360 is 58 CC for my 1989 GW. -- Frank Swygert Publisher, "American Motors Cars" Magazine (AMC) For all AMC enthusiasts http://farna.home.att.net/AMC.html (free download available!) _______________________________________________ Amc-list mailing list Amc-list@xxxxxxxxxxxx http://www.amc-list.com/mailman/listinfo/amc-list
