One comment. I normally regard Glen Hoag's and Matt
H's comments as golden. You can normally take them to
the bank. I respect their experience.
In my case, the original side stripes were
weatherbeaten, checked and generally sunbaked. The
stripe eraser tool did not work. I did not try the 3M
product on my Gremlin. Just don't expect miracles if
the stripes are old. Like I said before, if you are
going to paint the car anyway, sand them off.
