Good luck with your first start-up of the car. Because your car can easily be a little out of time at the first start-up I don't think it's a good idea to put gas down the carb throat. You can get a backfire which could damage you or start a fire. I don't think starter fluid is a good idea either. You might want to disconnect the coil wire and crank the engine over with the starter until the carb bowl is full. You can check this by pumping the accelerator and seeing if you get a nice stream of fuel into the carb throat. Then hook up the coil wire and let-er-rip. Check for fluid leaks. If you are breaking in a new cam, follow the cam manufacturers direction for breakin. That generally requires you to run the engine for 15 or twenty minutes at 2000 rpm or more.
