Joe sent me his extra later-American 195.6 oil pump, one with the full-flow oil filter on it. As it is, it will of course not fit, as the filter and probably the adapter itself will hit suspension parts. However, if you don't mind a modification it will work just fine. The adapter bolts onto the side of the pump, sticking upwards. Under the adapter, in the pump body, are two ports, filter in and out, that feed the filter adapter. Those holes are about .44" diameter on a flat face -- they can simply be drilled and tapped for flex braid hose and a remote adapter, probably get all the parts reasonably cheap from Summit etc. The holes are nearly an inch deep before they get near the gears, so there's plenty of meat for the threads. You could do it all on a small drill press. The pump body is cast iron. There is zero clearance problem with hoses sticking off the side of the pump, and plenty of places to put the oil filter. The full-flow pump has the relief valve in the pump cover, but it doesn't cause a clearance problem. Overall height of the pumps is about the same. I don't have a partial-flow-filter pump or a block to check, that would be the final test, but if the pump is known to be block-compatible it sure looks like a win. _______________________________________________ Amc-list mailing list Amc-list@xxxxxxxxxxxx http://www.amc-list.com/mailman/listinfo/amc-list
