OK, I'll try. Move the clip up from where you are holding it. Place the long continual flat piece under the piece the brake pads ride on. Then the the other side that is split lays of top of that long guide plate. The ends of the notches of the brake pads push against spring clip. I----i i-----I [______ ] I-------------I If this does not help, I just realized maybe I have enough stuff to setup a picture for you. I'd pull a wheel, but i'm not doing such things right now. Also, I only place these spring clips on the edge of the pad that is the leading edge of the pad. You want the pad pushed or held in the direction of rotor rotation when going forward. Placing the springs on both sides of the pads causes the pad to truly "float". While this sounds great, in reality it is not. You end up with noisy rattling brake pads, that clunk. To top it off the spring that is constantly pushed against when stopping will break within a few thousand miles, causing even more noise. I've been doing brake jobs on these brakes since 1982 when they were new and this has always been an issue. The only issue with these brakes as far as I'm concerned. They are my favorite brakes to use in retrofits. -- Mark Price Morgantown, WV 1969 AMC Rambler, 4.0L, EFI, T-5 2004 Grand Cherokee Laredo, 4.7L, Quadratrc II " Chronic Pain Hurts" -------------- Original message ---------------------- From: "John Eckersley" <john.eckersley@xxxxxxxxx> > Apologies for having asked this before, but I'm still stuck, and I've taken > a photo now. > > I need to know where the little spring clip goes. > > I've put a photo on the blog - here's the link - would appreciate any help - > thanks and Christmas good wishes.. > > http://rhdrebel.blogspot.com/2007/12/brakes-still.html > -------------- next part -------------- > An HTML attachment was scrubbed... > URL: > http://www.amc-list.com/pipermail/amc-list/attachments/20071223/3eac2a9e/attachm > ent.htm > _______________________________________________ > Amc-list mailing list > Amc-list@xxxxxxxxxxxx > http://www.amc-list.com/mailman/listinfo/amc-list _______________________________________________ Amc-list mailing list Amc-list@xxxxxxxxxxxx http://www.amc-list.com/mailman/listinfo/amc-list
