Wasn't there a stuff called Waxoil or similar? It was an oily looking non hardening brownish colored stuff. We sprayed Datsun F10 hoods with it during a rust recall and they used it exclusively at the VW dealer I worked at for a month or two. This was in 79-80 and if I recall the rust issues of the two vehicle mentioned I don't think it worked well at all! :] I home made some stuff I used on a 84 Z that has worked for years. it had several areas of small holes and surface rust that I sand blssted to clean, then repaired with Duraglas as I did not own a welder. I sealed the back side by spraying with undercoating then sprayed that with WD-40 till it softened and ran. I did this in around 1992-95 and I kid you not the guy still drives that car in southwestern Pa and yes it has rusted elswhere, but those areas have held up to this day as I've walked past it in the parking lot.
