Chevy parts sell. I periodically prowl the picknpull type junkyards here on the central coast of CA, as some of you know. Mainly I'm looking for AMCs and parts. But I have also found that by getting familiar with other brands and parts that are in demand, I can pull parts and sell them for a profit to help fund my AMC hobby. Case in point. A 2 1/2 ton 57 Chevy truck was in a local yard. It had a pristine grille, front bumper and the radiator looked to have been recently recored. I pulled those parts and sold the grille and front bumper to a guy in Los Angeles and am selling the hood latch rail on Ebay as well as the radiator this week. 1960 and 61 Chevy pickup hoods with the two "mounds" are in demand. You can easily sell good rust free fenders from a step side pickup. These are just examples. It helps to look for the unusual too. There was a Renault LeCar in a local yard. Believe it or not some parts, like the windshields are in demand. A Chevy Vega or Chevy Monza (and RWD Olds/Buick clones) can yield useful parts and there actually people out there who are in to these cars. Like many 70s AMCs, repro parts are not available and NOS is expensive. So if you have the time, you should monitor some other brand websites or check Ebay to see what's selling.
