304 automatics came w/2.87 std, 3.15 opt. Sticks were 3.54, 3.15 opt. all years except 73 when there was a 3.91 opt. on sticks only. The D70X14's were very short and the lighter weight of the Gremlin would have pulled you off the line and the better better breathing, higher compression of the 70 Jav pulled on top end. I have a 70 304 Jav I drove as a beater in the 80's (now a parts car for the AMX's) and it ran better than the later 304's by far. I ordered one 73 w/ the 3.91 the guy who bought it planned to put a bigger engine in it but I never saw it again. Think I still have the window sticker in my old files. I drove it a couple miles, seemed like too much gear for the stock combo though. Those were great times, now things are so different... amxron 70 AMX 70 Hornet 78 FSJ Wagoneer Fleet&JEEP Mgr Orbit/AMC-JEEP 50-1787 _______________________________________________ Amc-list mailing list Amc-list@xxxxxxxxxxxx http://www.amc-list.com/mailman/listinfo/amc-list
