There are two different ways for AMCs too!! It's something to do with the way things are wired, don't recall exactly what though. For all practical purposes as far as AMC is concerned it's the Ford (Autolite) and GM (Delco) methods. You have to use the correct regulator with the generator or it won't work. Just see if it's an Autolite or Delco then specifcy a Ford or Chevy regulator. I bet IHC bought from both companies for different years and/or size/type engines also. AMC used an Autolite on the L-head and Delco on the OHV 196. The V-8s used both at one point, one for one size, one for another -- I think. Not 100% on the V-8s, but it's really irrelevant right now. --------------------- Date: Sun, 28 Oct 2007 23:52:08 -0600 From: Ken Ames <ameskg@xxxxxxxxx> I recall reading in an IHC manual that there are a couple ways generators could be wired and that meant 2 different ways of re-polarizing them. Not sure which is the AMC preferred version. -- Frank Swygert Publisher, "American Motors Cars" Magazine (AMC) For all AMC enthusiasts http://farna.home.att.net/AMC.html (free download available!) _______________________________________________ Amc-list mailing list Amc-list@xxxxxxxxxxxx http://www.amc-list.com/mailman/listinfo/amc-list
