Could and proly is just a case of water way down deep into a connector or crevace, shorted it out. What I've done that seems to helps is WD-40 before the wash down. Spray the dist and assorted electrical connectors. The high pressure cleans it off the external areas, but it lays in those little places and keeps the water out.
