YIKES!
Liberals and Conservatives are different?  Yeah, I'd say they are...but, 
well, it does take all types to make a world!  Who would the Conservative 
fight with lest there were Liberals?  Who would the Liberal Lambaste were 
there no Conservatives??

Democracy is predicated on 'an informed Electorate'.  This being the case, 
someone tell me just how informed this electorate actually is??  Consider 
the Rovian approach: feed them an emotive issue along with other choices, 
and you'll bring out the 'party faithful' and 'idiologically true' (which 
one of these groups is 'informed electorate'??)

Gay Marriage, blah blah blah...throw that into an electorate content in 
American heartland and you'll have a solid conservative outcome ...  Karl 
knows.  Informed Electorate would likely be Liberal (they are the ones who 
read--they are 'known' to be 'intellectual' whereas the conservative is 
'emotive', thus 'knee-jerk').
Isn't there something in our 'creeds' which says,
"with Liberty and Justice for ALL"??  All includes the Gay, straight,, tall, 
short, 'heavy', skinny, female, male, airmale, ....every single one of us 
(who share these values--if you don't share that value ('for all') perhaps 
you don't belong 'here')...
Failing an Informed Electorate, there can be no democracy but, in fact, that 
beauty contest mentioned below...Money BUYS the votes...GoldRules the 
elections...

I just thought I'd throw in my two cents.

I'm going back to my Virii-driven misery...Party On, All!!
