Still 10% is 10% and the Hornet sedan with the standard transmission would have provided a low price leader for AMC dealerships. The Gremlin (not really 4 seats) could not fill that bill, even for a small family. And the Gremlin styling was dated, even with the restyle in 1977. I remember thinking "poor AMC, can't afford a new design" when that car came out. I think AMC missed to boat.
