I believe the problem with the storage of waste oil is when the quantity of it gets too great it becomes more hazardous. I think oil has a high flash temperature which drops it into a somewhat moderate hazard category. That's why it takes pre-heat and atomization to burn it in a waste oil burner for heat in the shop. Many if not all repair shops that change oil around here (MN) use it for a fuel source for heating their shop. Manufacturers of heating equipment even make special units (boilers) that burn waste oil to heat an antifreeze solution to be circulated throughout the concrete floor in 'PEX' tubing to heat the floor and therefore the air in the building. You bring in a vehicle covered in snow or ice and it melts and dries in a short time so the mechanic stays dry and happy. Recycling is the only environmentally safe way to deal with waste oil. I'm still waiting for someone to come up with a method to burn it in a vehicle !!! Maybe back to a steam powered vehicle that runs on waste oil !!! Just think you could be the first guy to own an AMC converted to steam/waste oil power. What do you suppose EPA would do with that.....................
